What a way to end the year ...

Wow, what a way to end the year and a very fitting tribute to my girls, Linnet, Renn and Berrie.
At LKA under Ann Kilminster Remus won his Limit class and gained his third Reserve CC. His daughter Eskwinds Driving Miss Daisy to Windhollows gained a fourth in her class handled by myself as her own Nicky Colson has tangled with her horse again! Clemence won her Limit Class and Luna was third in the Open Class.
But most fantastically I have won the Our Dogs Top Breeder 2011, the competition is based on the number of CC'S awarded to dogs bred by individual breeders. With Remus, Luna ( 2) and Clem all having been awarded CC'S this year for the Kennel this has made me Top Breeder.
VERY PROUD !!!!

Gundog breeds of Scotland 12/11/11

The usual (with a few new) suspects headed up North to show at the Gundog Breeds and to stay at the the Granary. With the famous Glenis (Kilbourne) Curry packed along with Roz and Abby, Clem, Luna and Remus we arrived on the Friday night.
Saturday was the show and yet again the Granary proved to be lucky with Gemma taking the Dog CC and Best of Breed with Woody, Suzi Tagg  winning two classes with Sharon Hennesy's  Swantonwood Lowri, Roz won her puppy Class again with Abbey.
Clem won Limit and Luna won Open with the Bitch CC going to Clemence , making that her Second !!
All topped off to perfection with a mass walk on Yellow Craig Beach the next day !!

NEFRA Championship Show November 6th 2011

An excellent show always ran very efficiently by the NEFRA team and one I usually do well at.
Judges for the day were Hazel wilson doing Dogs and Shirley Oxford (Taranbeck) for the Bitches.

Seymour was first in for the Rainesgift team, his first Show of the year and his first Veteran Class. Fantastically he won the class going on to win Best Veteran In Show

I handled Flatcharm Wild Thing (AI) better known as Joules for Kelly Holland in his Minor Puppy and Puppy Classes. He took both !!
Mr Remus made the cut in his Big Boy Limit Class but still looks lost amongst the more finished dogs.
Clemence won a second in a fantastic Limit Class to the Seymour daughter Islstrom Little Missy JW, who went on to take her first CC. Huge Congrats to Ronnie and Susan Ross.
Luna won a fantastic Open Class !!

The Rainesgift breeding featured heavily in the top honours and line ups with 30 dogs Grandsired/Dam by or out of my breeding in them. Making me one very proud breeder !!!!!

Today was Remus's first day out this season . We have had a lovely day with some nice retrieves and lots of sitting patiently for drives to come through !!

Remus shows that a clean, nicely trimmed Flat Coat looks good whatever discipline it is doing!

The new arrivals .....

Here are the latest additions to the Rainesgift Household .... very much time wasters at the moment !!

Shooting Season begins in earnest

The Shooting season has begun with Clemence going out first ... the weather was absolutely red hot but Clem kept going. At the end of one drive all the dogs of the Shoot ended up in the pond together which was a fantastic sight , Labradors, GWP, American Cockers, Border Terriers and Springer Spaniels but unfortunately NO CAMERA !!!!

I have added a photo of Tansy , one of the Remus/ Ellie Mae puppies on her first Shoot

South Wales Kennel Association

With a car full of hounds Little Hayley and I headed out for Builth Wells on Friday morning to watch Mr Ronaldo Ross in the hot seat ..
Remus gained a very respectable 5th in a Limit Class full of dogs with a lot more maturity than his nibs
The class was won by Derbyshire's own Kelly Holland and the Swedish Import Calzeat Causa Commotion for Flatcharm better known as "Denver" ....who then went on to take to their 3rd CC. Massive Big Hugs to My DUDES xxxx
Travelling buddy Rainesgift Hucklebery Finn to Lizzlog won Second to Denver in Limit
The girls were up next with Clemence ( back on full strength Clemmie badness) winning a Second in a very strong Limit Class and a still very coat-less Luna doing very well in Open with a Third!!
16 dogs with Rainesgift breeding were placed by Mr Ross including my travelling buddies Lizzlog Laceys Enigma and the Rosie /Denver "Kisses"puppies Hattie and Lilly .
Denver and Rainesgift Fleur De lis for Woodfinch's daughter Abby ( Woodfinch Lorelei) went Best Puppy in Breed.

Richmond Show

Richmond Show was on Sunday September 11th with Ann Brooks judging. The ring was very hard going  with it being the 3rd day as it was clearly full of interesting smells and bait. Again Mr Remus scraped a second but really wasn't keen on moving, especially the very short distance across the ring to the other side of the ring.
Clem won her  Limit Class and still a quite hairless Luna won a 5th in the Mid limit Class.
Lovely to see the Hayley and Linda Walker's Denver and Rosie baby win Best Puppy in breed with her sister and half sister Abbey (owned by Roz Bellamy) placed in the class with her x

Show News

Again I'm behind with the Show news so I'll go straight in to Birmingham on September 3rd and Mr Mike Gadsby judging Flat Coats for the first time at Championship Show level. Still slightly fuzzy from the night before's Partying Mr Gadsby made sure we had plenty of exercise in the ring with Mr Remus coming second in the Graduate class to an even fuzzier from the night before Gemma Jacobs and Woody.

Handling Remus daughter Coedylan Viste D'arte for the first time she gained a fourth in her class.
The bad child came away empty handed in her huge Limit class.
Really good to see a judge move the dogs as much as Mr Gadsby did, most enlightening and the halting of proceedings due to a very brave and errant Pigeon was highly amusing!
Thankyou to those who joined me for Cake and drinkies at my bench and again thankyou for my presents x

HUGE THANKYOU

I'm a little behind on my Blogging so I ought to start saying a massive THANKYOU to my Flat coat friends here and abroad for my very special 40th Birthday present .... a spanking new Lens to go with my spanking new Camera (courtesy of the husband). Thankyou so much for those that put in, very much appreciated xxxxx
Thankyou also for those of you joined for my Birthday Party and made it the fantastic night ...and morning  it was xxx

Scottish Kennel Club

WOW, what a fabulous end to a cracking weekend !! At SKC under judge Linda Hughes (Candease) Mr Remus won his Graduate class suprisingly so as he  was more interested in showing off to all the Deerhound girls in the ring next door !!!
He then went on to win the Dog CC , his first !! Remus has been at home most of the year to to do some growing up and hasn't been shown since The Breed Show in April so this came as a big shock !!!
Congratulations to Elma Winton with the Ch Rainesgift Seymour son Braidwyn Bennigan who took the Dog Reserve CC.
Clemence was back to her thieving robbing best and emptied a new and unsuspecting neighbours bag and all it's contents. I think I need to make a warning sign for her bench .... nice to see she is carrying on Grandma Berrie's good work though!!! However, she went on to win a brilliant Limit Class and took the Reserve Bitch CC next to Dorothy Brooks's Castlerock Magic Moment JW.
Congratulations to Dorothy and Magic as this gives Magic her Crown xx
Thanks to Roz Bellamy, Kelly holland and Alex Webster for a fabulous weekend xxx

Calzeat Causa a Commotion at Flatcharm (IMP) CC & BOB @ Bournemouth

Congratulations to my travelling buddies Kelly and Denver who yesterday at Bournemouth Show took their Second CC and after going Best of breed made their debut in the Group ring at show. Congrats to both they looked a picture in the big ring !!
My very own Little Clemence who after emptying the contents of Kelly's bag all over the bench (several times) won a good strong Limit class but lost her usual Clemmie sparkle for the challenge.
A good but very long and tiring day !!
